So VPNs are a great tool, but you need to keep in mind that you are trading one provider (your ISP) for another in terms of who will see your traffic. VPNs do not make you “invisible” despite all the marketing chatter you see from advertisements. They just change the location of where all your clear net traffic hits the internet. Keeping that in mind it is wise to have tools that you understand how to use and when.
For general web surfing I generally rely on the following VPNs myself.
- Mullvad VPN you can pay for the service with cash, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Monero, bank wire, credit card, PayPal, Swish, Giropay, Eps transfer, Bancontact, iDEAL, and Przelewy24.
- iVPN You can pay in cash, Bitcoin, Lightning, Paypal or Credit Card.
- Proton VPN which you can pay for using Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, or Proton credits.
There are others out there, these are just the companies I have an active subscription with at this time.
